Walk into any Game or Carrefour and the TV section is a sea of Samsung on one side and LG on the other. Both make excellent televisions. The choice between them comes down to what you value: brightness and colour pop, or contrast and smart TV experience.
Samsung bets on QLED technology, which uses a quantum dot layer to produce brighter, more saturated colours. This matters in Ugandan homes where curtains are often thin and sunlight washes out the screen during daytime viewing. Samsung TVs look better in bright rooms. LG counters with OLED at the premium end and a stronger smart TV platform in webOS across its entire range. webOS is smoother, more intuitive, and tends to get app updates faster than Samsung's Tizen platform.

Mid-Range: UGX 2.5M to 5M
Here Samsung pulls ahead for daytime viewing. The Q70C QLED series at UGX 3,200,000 for 50 inches delivers noticeably brighter HDR than LG's LED models at the same price. LG counters with Dolby Vision support, which Samsung refuses to license. Dolby Vision content on Netflix and Apple TV looks better on LG TVs because Dolby Vision adjusts brightness scene by scene rather than once for the whole movie. If you stream a lot of premium content, the LG advantage is real.
Premium: UGX 5M and Above

The Samsung 65-inch Neo QLED at UGX 9,850,000 is spectacular, but at that price, many buyers will prefer the LG OLED at a smaller size.
After-Sales: What Actually Matters
Both brands have authorised service centres in Kampala. Samsung's network is slightly wider, with service points in Jinja, Mbarara, and Gulu alongside Kampala. LG's service network covers Kampala and Jinja primarily. Both offer 2-year warranties through authorised dealers. Parts availability is good for both brands on models sold in the last 3 years. For older or less common models, Samsung parts are easier to find because Samsung has higher sales volume in Uganda.
